It’s easy to miss the contrasting picture between the disciples and the blind. The former asked/demanded position/power to be with Jesus, whom they thought was going to be a political king. The latter begged Jesus’ compassion for eyesight. The irony? The disciples have eyes but were spiritually blind and the physically blind heard/believed/worshipped Jesus. He saw Him even before his eyesight was miraculously healed. We are blind when all we want from Jesus is position/power/benefits or to be served, and not to serve others. When we put Jesus first, believing and worshipping Him, in spite of struggles/obstacles/shame/guilt/stigma of having blindness/sickness/shortcomings, we will see Jesus clearly. And that’s all we need in following Him in our life.
