“Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, because they were bitter; for that reason it was named Marah. So the people grumbled at Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?” Then he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There He made for them a statute and regulation, and there He tested them. And He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭15‬:‭22‬-‭26‬ ‭NASB2020

God said, "I, the Lord, am your healer" to His people, who must learn to obey His commands. Faith and obedience lead to the healing both of the soul and body. In Christ, if we want to be healed, faith and obedience are required. This is not to say every disease can be cured, but the text was clear- “If you will listen carefully... I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.” "If." As the story unfolds, people didn't keep His command from that time to our time, even those who are in Christ do not always keep God's command. But thanks to Jesus Christ who fulfilled all the O.T. commands, so that those who are in Him are called to live in Christ and follow the law of Christ, which fulfilled the righteous requirements of the Old Testament law through love (cf. Romans 13:8-10). This guides us in living through the example of Jesus and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. It emphasizes internal transformation rather than external regulation (cf. Matthew 5-7). Consequently, it calls believers to live by the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). So though we still face/have physical diseases/illness due to the fallen nature of the whole creation, our souls will be saved by grace through faith and be healed of any brokenness of our soul (mind, will, emotion), where many mental health problems today are derived from. People suffer because their mind suffer and their will is stubborn and therefore their emotions are messed up, which in turn makes the mind messed up. It is a vicious cycle.
