WEEKLY REFLECTION by Pastor Lap Dinh on Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭145‬-‭149‬

“I cried out with all my heart; answer me, Lord! I will comply with Your statutes. I cried to You; save me And I shall keep Your testimonies. I rise before dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words. My eyes anticipate the night watches, So that I may meditate on Your word. Hear my voice according to Your faithfulness; Revive me, Lord, according to Your judgments.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭145‬-‭149‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

Crying out to the Lord with all our heart is the right approach in seeking Him seriously, deeply, intimately, and urgently—asking the Lord to respond. And He always will, but in His timing, not ours.

While eagerly waiting for His intervention, response, or answer, we are to comply with His loving and instructive words. Salvation comes by having faith in Him, which requires hearing and keeping/obeying His testimonies. When following Jesus, we are to keep Jesus’ testimonies of God.

This is the outcome of meditating on God’s Word. He will hear our voice—not because we are loud or demanding, but according to His faithfulness. The Psalmist said, “Revive me, Lord,” not because we are worthy, but “according to Your judgments.” In Christ, God’s judgment has been absorbed. Those who believe in and live for Jesus will be revived and made new again.

So what must we do when we face challenges or difficulties? We are to:

(a) cry out to Him,

(b) comply with His Word,

(c) wait upon Him and anticipate His deliverance in hope,

(d) meditate on His Word, and

(e) trust in His faithfulness and judgments.

Why? Because the Lord is always faithful and just. Help us, Lord! Amen.
