WEEKLY REFLECTION by Pastor Lap Dinh on ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬

ree

“For My people have committed two evils: They have abandoned Me, The fountain of living waters, To carve out for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That do not hold water.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬

God’s  people are prone to commit two evils:

(a) Abandoning the Lord, the fountain of living waters. How? By not drinking from it. In what way? By not reading His word daily. So their soul is thirsty and they then commit the second evil.
(b) Carving out/digging for themselves a broken cistern that do not or cannot hold water. It’s always leaking and can never quench their thirst. A broken soul hopes for a broken cistern to satisfy its thirst. People of God who do not want to simply live in Jesus and His word will find themselves in constant thirst and try to use everything/one else to fill their ‘leaky’ soul. The more they try, the more addicted they will be in their “carving” (toiling) for more.

Abandoning Jesus will lead to an unsatisfied life.

Self-solution will lead to more unsatisfactory work/toil for life.

So what is the solution? Well, just don’t commit the above two evils. “But Pastor, you don’t understand. Life is hard, and I’m out of control”. Agreed. But the choice is still yours. So make up your mind and choose.

May the grace, love, and mercy of the Lord give you a fresh start. And remember, God cannot be mocked. So go and sin no more.
