“Now if a person has committed a sin carrying a sentence of death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body is not to be left overnight on the tree, but you shall certainly bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is cursed of God), so that you do not defile your land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.” Deuteronomy 21:22-23
This instruction/law help us to understand why Jesus' crucified body was needed to be taken down before dusk (cf. Luke 23:50-54) This passage also connects with other NT passages: Galatians 3:13-14; 1 Peter 2:24) Thank you, Lord Jesus that you didn’t not only suffer physical death, but you bore the curse of sin on behalf of all humanity. And through your death, those who believe in you are redeemed from the curse of the law and receive righteousness by faith, not by works (cf. Galatians 3:10–14). Today, Christians around the world traditionally observe and called it, "Good Friday," but it was torturous Friday for our Lord Jesus Christ and devastating news to those who followed Him. So why do we call it, "Good Friday?" It seems that the only possible answer is, He did for our own good. The goodness of God the Father was fully bestowed to the people, whose faith is in the crucified Son of God---Jesus Christ.
