“When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Is your intention peace, Jehu?” And he answered, “What ‘peace,’ so long as your mother Jezebel’s acts of prostitution and witchcraft are so many?” So Joram turned back and fled, and he said to Ahaziah, “There is treachery, Ahaziah!” Then Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his arms; and the arrow went through his heart, and he sank in his chariot. And Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Pick him up and throw him on the property of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for remember, when you and I were riding together after his father Ahab, that the Lord brought this pronouncement against him: ‘I have certainly seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will repay you on this property,’ declares the Lord. Now then, pick him up and throw him on the property, in accordance with the word of the Lord.”” 2 Kings 9:22-26 NASB2020
> > What is peace? There is no peace when God's people live in sin- such as idolatry, sexual immorality, witchcraft or fortune-telling, wickedness, envy, jealousy, power-struggles, etc. Without Jesus, there can be no peace between unholy humanity and our holy God. Without repentance—turning away from a sinful lifestyle and running to Christ—there will be no forgiveness or redemption, but only temporal punishment and eternal damnation. How there can be peace? Peace is not something one can buy or acquire by human power. If that were the case, we would have already seen peace in the world. But it hasn’t happened in the past, it’s not happening now, and it won’t happen in the future—unless people return to the Lord and submit to His rule and reign by wholeheartedly trusting and obeying His Word, and living out the message of His grace and truth in the time and place where He has placed us. One caveat though, are we willing to be/do so?
