“As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” 1 Peter 1:14-19 NASB2020

As obedient children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, here are the loving instructions from our heavenly Father:
(a) do not be conformed to the former lusts (of the eye, the flesh, and the pride of life) which were ours in our ignorance.
(b) be like the Holy God who called us, to be holy as He is holy.
(c) live a life in the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of heavenly wisdom for our earthly stay.
But why must we do the above? Because we are not redeemed by an earthly, perishable price (gold or silver), but by the heavenly, redemptive, perfect payment—the blood of God’s Son.
Okay, so can people ignore the above? Sure, they can, and they will be the sons/daughters of disobedience—aligning their lives with the Devil. The choice is always theirs.
