(Further reflections on "The Word & The Light"--Sunday 4-Aug-2024)
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)." The name of Jesus means God's redemptive power to those who believe Him and judging power to those who reject Him.
In receiving the name of Jesus, forgiveness is given to anyone who believes in Him. And those who have received His forgiveness live out the life of "forgiving one another" in the Body of Christ. When it is properly exercised in church, forgiveness will be powerful extending to those who haven't known the name of Jesus.
In knowing Him, those who intimately follow Him receive His power to overcome the evil deeds of the evil one by preaching His good news to all people.
In knowing Him, we are being strengthened by His grace, truth, love, and mercy as we serve and build each other up. Our strength is not self-generated but His steadfast love is imparted. We fix our eyes on Him who is the author of life and perfecter of our faith.
To abide in Jesus, we are to abide in God's word that enables us to withstand all the attacks of the evil one and his schemes.
Is there any other name above the name of Jesus? There is factually "none," regardless of people's agreement.
